Sodium Perchlorate of HHHTech![]() Sodium perchlorate is a perchlorate of sodium and has the formula NaClO4. Sodium perchlorate melts with decomposition at 480 °C. It is a white crystalline, hygroscopic solid that is soluble in water and in alcohol. It usually comes as the monohydrate, which has a rhombic crystal structure. The present major use of perchlorate salts is as oxidizers in solid propellants such as NASA's solid rocket boosters. The potassium salt was first used and quickly followed by what is now the more important salt, ammonium perchlorate. Lithium perchlorate, which has the highest weight percentage of oxygen of all perchlorates, has been tested as an oxidizer in solid propellants, but has not found favor with propellant manufacturers due to its hygroscopicity. Sodium perchlorate itself finds only minimal use in pyrotechnics because it is hygroscopic; ammonium and potassium perchlorates are preferred. They are made by double decomposition from a solution of sodium perchlorate and potassium or ammonium chlorides. It is also used in standard DNA extraction and hybridization reactions in molecular biology. Specifications of Sodium Perchlorate
Usage of Sodium PerchlorateSodium perchlorate is mainly used as the starting material for the production of other perchlorates. It is also used as an oxidizer in the slurry type of explosives in mines and as an important reagent in the analytical chemistry. The demand is estimated to be nearly 1000 tonnes per year.Potassium Perchlorate is used in large quantities as an oxidizer in fuels for military rockets. It also finds application in explosives, fireworks, flares and railway signals. The demand for this chemical is not likely to exceed 100 tonnes per year. Sodium perchlorate is the precursor to many other perchlorate salts, often taking advantage of their low solubility relative to NaClO4 (209 g/100 mL at 25 °C). Perchloric acid is made by treating NaClO4 with HCl.NaCIO4 finds only minimal use in pyrotechnics because it is hygroscopic; ammonium and potassium perchlorates are preferred. They are made by double decomposition from a solution of sodium perchlorate and potassium or ammonium chlorides.NaClO4 has a variety of uses in the laboratory, often as a nonreactive electrolyte. For example, it is used in standard DNA extraction and hybridization reactions in molecular biology. Package and storyage of Sodium PerchloratePacking in 25kgs bags or 1000 kgs bags |
